Josh Ball is one to watch this fall. The 2016 offensive lineman from Fredericksburg (Va.) Stafford Senior High School holds offers from the likes of Virginia, Virginia Tech, North Carolina State, West Virginia, Wake Forest and Maryland. But with the evaluation period picking up, Ball could be on the verge of landing quite a few more.
On Saturday, however, the lineman made a trip to a school that already pulled the trigger, UVa.
“It was really fun, I liked it,” said Ball after his visit to Charlottesville to see the Wahoos host UCLA. “I thought it was a good game. I thought they kept up pretty well.”
The 6-foot-7, 310 pounder appreciates UVa putting teams like the Bruins and Oregon on the schedule to test themselves against hard competition.
“I think they showed they could. I think that’s cool that he did that.”
Although just watching the game was a great experience for Ball and his parents, the thing that stood out the most was what happened after the final whistle.
“I didn’t expect to go into the locker room. That was pretty cool. Coach (Scott) Wachenheim introduced us to all the offensive lineman when we went into the locker room after the game.”
Ball and his parents are hoping to make a few more trips this fall.
“We want to go to the West Virginia-Oklahoma game, but we aren’t entirely sure. We want to head to a Maryland game too.”
