National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu weighs in on commitment

"I think he's really good. He's a good sized kid who can really run to the football. He is aggressive and has played good competition in high school. He does a really good job of taking on blocks and also finding his way through the wash to get to the ball. But his biggest assets, to me, are that he has a good frame, is very aggressive and pursues hard."

Recruiting Recap

C.J. Stalker took a visit to UVa in the spring, and from there on out, it seemed the Wahoos were sitting well with the linebacker. Stalker was impressed with defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta's coaching style and by UVa's academics. He released a top five in early July which consisted of Louisville, UVa, Kentucky, Indiana, and Cincinnati, but it seemed more like a two-horse race between the Cardinals and the Wahoos.

Stalker made his third trip to Grounds this week and decided to pull the trigger and commit to Mike London and the staff.

"I really liked his intensity throughout the whole practice," he said after his visit back in the Spring. "Even in the meetings you can tell, he (defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta) held all of his guys accountable, and they knew what was expected of them and vice versa. It was just unbelievable to see his ability and knowledge of the game. You can sit there and talk to him and you would get blown away."

"They have always been the ones that I favor because of great academics and the ACC, that combination is is great really."

Recruiting Impact

Stalker is UVa's first linebacker commitment in this class. It is a position of need in the 2015 class. Looking at the football depth chart, after this season UVa will lose Daquan Romero and Henry Coley to graduation. Stalker fits the middle linebacker role that Coley leaves behind.

Other linebackers left on the board for the Wahoos include: five-star Ricky DeBerry and four-star Jahvoni Simmons. Recommended Stories
