Biography:
Shields was a pre-season Eastern Mass. All-State selection as a junior.

Shields is the son of former Notre Dame MLB Jack Shields who played for the fighting Irish from 1979-1983.

Shields reports a 2.7 GPA/1100 SAT.

Final senior stats: "Our team doesn't throw the ball much, probably only 30-40 times all year. I probably had 20 receptions and four TDs. I never dropped the ball. At defensive end I had seven sacks, three fumbles caused and two fumbles recovered. Some 1AA schools are looking at me as a defensive end. Our team went 6-5."
