"I have offers from Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, UNC and South Carolina," said the 6-5, 290-pound lineman from Phoebus High School in Hampton, VA. "Recently not too much new has happened, so I've had some time to think. I don't think I can say I have a favorite at this point."
Hampton is still considering the Cavaliers, but he was blunt in his analysis of UVa's spring game.
"I'm definitely still considering Virginia. It's a good school and they're doing good things," he said. "But the spring game left a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth. The offense looked a little slow. They were behind where I would have liked to have seen them. All the defenses are ahead of the offenses this time of year, and UVa's defense looked fine. But I'd like to see the offense pick up the pace a little bit."
Hampton stressed that did not mean UVa was out of the picture and that he would consider Virginia for an official visit later in the recruiting process.
"The only school I'm sure I want to take an official visit to right now is UNC," he said. "They're not my leader, but I would like to get down there and see what they're all about."
Hampton has a lot of athleticism for a guard and has the potential to improve rapidly once he gets on rigorous weight program. He has exceptional footwork and has a quick first step. The Phoebus rising senior does not plan on making a decision until after the season.
