With plenty of options heading into the May Evaluation Period, J’Courtney Williams is pretty comfortable with his recruiting situation. “Everything is good, right now,” said Williams. “Right now, I have eight offers – I’m pretty happy with that.” Currently, Williams, a 6-foot-4 220-pounder, holds offers from Clemson, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. Starting Saturday Williams, who hasn’t unofficially visited any schools this spring, will begin a three-week stretch of campus trips. “This weekend coming up I’m going down to Clemson and UNC for their spring games,” said Williams. “I’ll meet the coaches and talk to Coach Roy Williams at UNC to discuss the situation with me playing basketball and football.” Williams will then head to Virginia Tech on April 15th and Virginia on April 22nd. He also plans to camp at both in-state schools this summer. Despite the lack of campus visits, Williams has singled out two schools as his co-leaders. “My two favorites would be UVa and [Virginia] Tech, right now,” said Williams. “With Tech, I have a couple of family members on the team [Cam and Orion Martin]. With UVa, it’s my relationship I have with Coach [Mike] London, and also they’re the first team that offered me.” After two years at Danville (Va.) Washington, Williams transferred to Christchurch (Va.). During the first game of his junior season, Williams put on a show in the first quarter recording two sacks, an interception, a safety, and about eight tackles. However, he suffered a knee injury at the end of the first quarter forcing him to miss the next five games. When healthy, Williams was everything for Christchurch playing outside linebacker, strong safety, wide receiver, and tight end. |
