Following yesterday's blowout victory over the Temple Owls the Virginia coaching staff had one of their key recruits come and speak with head coach Al Groh.
Those words were obviously great news to the prospect, RB Keith Payne, because he decided to give his commitment there on the spot to coach Groh and coach Golden. Payne becomes the 17th commit of the 2006 recruiting class for the Virginia Cavaliers.
Payne from Oakton High School has all the tools necessary to be an impactful player for the Hoos coming out of the backfield. Standing at 6'3 215 pounds some may think he's prototype size for a wide receiver but Payne excels running out of the backfield. He does however have solid hands making him a dual threat given his 4.5 speed.
Having interest from Virginia Tech, Clemson, Maryland, Penn State, and Wake Forest gaining a commit from the speedy running back adds to an already impressive backfield.
HooNation will have an interview with Payne later on today to find out all the details about his visit and why he decided to commit Saturday.
