Power forward Johnnie Lett has been in the cross hairs of quite a few teams since the beginning of the summer and it appears things are just starting to get serious for the Alabama native's recruitment. "My visit to UVa went well. T. J. Bannister hosted me while I was there." Lett told us. When asked to tell us what stood out to him about his trip to Virginia he said, "I like the new coaching staff. They showed some real intensity in practice and had the guys going pretty hard." Lett visited Charlottesville the weekend of the big football victory over the Florida State Seminoles. So was he able to take in some of the game atmosphere with the rest of the Virginia fans? "Yeah I went and I really liked the game. It was good and they had a good atmosphere." The powerfully built power forward also told us that, "The campus is very nice and it is peaceful." One of the biggest things most people notice when visiting UVa now is the construction of the new John Paul Jones Arena that's set to open next season. "Yeah I got a chance to see the new arena being built. Man it's gonna be nice. I think it's supposed to be the best in the country." Given the fact that the team was already practicing we wondered if the young power forward had the chance to play with the current Hoos in a pickup game to see how he'd stack up. "No I didn't get to play with them. There were some really nice guys on the team though. I enjoyed watching them practice." Lett however will not rush his decision. "I've got an official visit with Miami in about two or three weeks. I'm still pretty wide open at this point and I might decide in April." HooNation.com will continue to track the recruitment of Johnnie Lett as the Virginia Cavaliers look to fill the vacancy for their final scholarship for the class of 2006. |
