Fitzgerald Commits to Virginia

Richmond (Va.) Hermitage defensive end Jeffrey Fitzgerald made a commitment today, and he will stay in-state.

"I just committed to UVa," says the 6-foot-4.5, 255 pounder. "I'm just real comfortable up there at UVa, and I know my family likes it up there.

"I thought about it for a while, not really too long though."

Fitzgerald joins teammate Jameel Sewell, a quarterback, as Virginia pledges for the upcoming class. He says Sewell was not a huge part in making the decision.

"He wasn't too much of a factor. He was trying to get me to head there, but not seriously. Just little jokes here and there."

For now, Fitzgerald will help the Cavalier coaches in recruiting as much as possible, especially on his official visit.

"If we have some prospects around this area, I will."
