"I've been a lifelong Virginia fan."
Jumbo Athlete Commits to UVa
"Jason committed two weeks ago," says Kempsville first-year head coach Jeff McGowan. "We are just now releasing it today for the first time."
The secret is now out on Fuller's commitment, but his future position is not as set in stone.
"They are kinda opening it up to tight end or outside linebacker. In our offense, we mainly just ran behind Jason and he was averaging eight pancake blocks per game.
"On defense he had sixty-six tackles, seventeen for loss, ten sacks, two forced fumbles, and a touchdown. The thing is that he can run; he has a 4.71 time in the forty."
More impressive may be his power. A "lanky" player, Fuller can bench 350 pounds, and has plenty of room to grow. Virginia saw the potential, and Fuller liked what he saw in Charlottesville.
"He was offered by Syracuse and Appalachian State. He had a lot of interest from Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia Tech was in here. When he went up to UVa for junior day, he had a great time and really liked the coaches. The next week, I got a FedEx envelope the next week with an offer in it.When they offered, he jumped on it."
