2005 Target: Josh Baker
Like father like son is an old saying most of you know. Josh Baker's (6-3,227, 4.6) dad played for NC State. Now the Western Branch HS (Chesapeake, VA) linebacker is about to take a similar path.
"My goals are plain and simple, I want to be all-state, help my team win a state championship, and increase the attention that I'm getting from schools."
Which leads to the next question asked of Josh. What schools have you been drawing interest from?
"Maryland, Boston College, and Miami,” said Baker. “Virginia has sent me a few letters, but right now they aren't recruiting me that hard. Virginia is in my early top 5 along with Notre Dame, Boston College, Miami, and Maryland." Stated Baker.
When asked about his time table for making his decision Josh replied, "If the right school offers I'll commit early, if not, then I'll wait til after my senior season is over."
Josh feels that the main area he needs to concentrate on to improve this coming season is his foot work. " I need to get faster and stronger. I feel my abilities to see the play develop make me a strong presence on the defensive side of the ball, and my speed on the offensive side are a big help in getting the plays to develop faster."
Baker played hard this past season and he was rewarded for it.
"I was all-district on Offense and Defense and Linebacker of the year." Josh also worked hard in the classroom. "I have a 2.87 GPA and I have been selected as a School Marshal. I'm also on the School Honor roll."
Josh has his summer schedule almost finalized. "I'll be going to camps at Maryland and Boston College. And if it's possible I want to go to camps at Virginia and Miami.”
