“It was good. I got to stay the night in the town and being able to watch practice was great,” said the Manasquan (N.J.) High tight end. “My sisters were able to see the campus and my parents and I got to see it again. It was just a great time. “
The 6-foot-5, 210 pounder visited UVa on Thursday, where he had the chance to see the Cavaliers’ fourth fall practice and second in shells.
” The intensity was awesome,” he said. “It was high-paced, high tempo and everyone was flying around. It looked good and it was nice to see.”
Although, Cowley was able to learn a lot from watching practice, it was his time away from the field that brought him some perspective.
”I got to sit in with the special teams meeting, and then I got to sit in the tight ends meeting for a little bit,” he explained. “It was nice to see (coach Tom O’Brien) him working and being a coach in the classroom and on the field. I got a good feel for him.”
He also got a good feel of what it takes to be the best at his position.
“How many little things there are- you can really never stop learning and never really be perfect-with certain blocks every little inch matters. In this position there is always room for improvement and you are never going to be settled.”
During his visit he was also able to meet most of the team, however, he was not able to go into many in-depth conversations with them. But in light of that, Cowley fully expects to make a return visit soon.
”I am trying to go to a game at UVa. I’m not sure when, maybe the first one.”
Cowley plans to visit no other school and is solid in his commitment.
