Arcega-Whiteside Impressed by UVa

Roebuck (S.C.) Dorman wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside visited Virginia on Thursday. He discussed his trip to UVa with

It was pretty good," said J.J. Arcega-Whiteside after his visit to Virginia on Thursday. "We mainly just visited the campus and took a tour-stopped by the academics, talked to them, visited the facilities and talked to the coaches."

"I really liked the campus it seemed to be very vibrant. Everybody up there seemed to be all about Virginia. It was one of those campuses that the whole city seems to be the campus and everybody seems to be part of the campus. I really liked that."

The Roebuck (S.C.) Dorman wide receiver has been in contact with Virginia assistant Marques Hagans during his recruitment, however, this was the first chance he had to spend some quality time with UVa head coach, Mike London.

"All high quality-character coaches, they all believe in doing the right thing. It was great to meet all of them," he said. "He (London) was a cool guy and he always emphasized what you should and shouldn't do off the field. I really liked coach London."

This visit cementing a foundation for a future relationship with the head coach, but also continuing to reinforce his relationship with Hagans.

"We talked, and you know he is the type of guy you have to earn your spot, he is not just going to give it to you. He said as we go into the season we could talk more about where I fit in if I decide to go."

Whiteside has visited Wake Forest, Georgia Tech , South Carolina, Auburn, Duke and most recently Maryland.

"I like Maryland a lot more after this visit. I'd heard some things about Maryland, but I didn't get a real feel for the place until now," he told Dave Lomonico from

But the visits don't end for the three-star wide receiver.

"I'm headed to Georgia this weekend and then I will probably head to Stanford in the next couple of weeks."

Arcega-Whiteside claims no favorites at this time, and he still plans on making his decision this summer, once he evaluates all of his options.

"I will try to make all these visits before I make my decision probably sometime in July," he stated. "This is one of the those things, where after I go through these visits I will learn more about what I want." Recommended Stories
