Montgomery-Delaurier Impressed by UVa

Javin Montgomery-Delaurier visited Virginia over the weekend for the UVa-Syracuse game on Saturday. The 2016 forward discusses his visit and more with

"If you would have told me that UVa was going to beat Syracuse at the beginning of this year, I would have called you crazy," said Javin Montgomery-Delaurier.

The 2016 forward visited Virginia over the weekend to see the Cavaliers clinch the ACC regular season title outright by beating the Orange 75-56.

"At halftime it seemed to be a close game, but then UVa did what they have done a couple of times and just go on a run in the second half," said the St. Anne's Belifield standout. "Once UVa figured out the zone, they attacked it well. The pack-line defense did what it has done all year and shut opposing offenses completely down."

Montgomery-Delaurier extremely impressed by Virginia's season, but also just how much Hoo nation supports its team.

"I was really impressed at how many people came out to support UVa today. The atmosphere was a lot different than I ever thought I would see in Charlottesville, it was amazing."

Of course no one supports their team, more than the team's head coach. The forward, along with the other recruits visiting, had a chance to talk to UVa head coach Tony Bennett after the big win.

"After the game Coach Bennett addressed me and the other recruits and just told us about what an amazing atmosphere UVa has, which we got to visually witness," he said. " It was great, Coach Bennett has a lot of passion for the game, he is a great coach, and he has a lot of enthusiasm."

Montgomery-Delaurier will now focus on his AAU season which will pick up on March 22nd with Team Takeover in Washington D.C.. He currently holds an offer from UC Davidson, with UVa, Florida State, Indiana, Wake Forest and Rutgers showing some interest. Recommended Stories
