UVa Changes Jackson's Perceptions

Vincent Jackson and Mike London

Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit linebacker Vincent Jackson has four schools standing out before he makes his decision, and Virginia is one. Jackson discussed his official visit to UVa with Scout.com.

Vincent Jackson is looking to end his recruitment sooner rather than later.

"I'm not waiting until signing day," said the Jesuit linebacker. "I am deciding right after my next visit (Missouri)."

The Tampa, Florida native will visit Mizzou this weekend, where then Jackson will decide between South Florida, Missouri, Texas Tech and Virginia.

"I don't have a clear picture of which school I want to go to," said about his decision.

UVa is one school that caused an interesting twist to Jackson's recruitment. He made a visit to Charlottesville on an official this past weekend, and the visit really changed his perceptions about not only about the program, but about the school.

"(They are now) Top 3 or 4(after the visit)."

"It was a great visit. I saw some things I've never seen... Just the school and what they have to offer is different.. UVa is a great school, beautiful campus, it's just different from what I'm used to."

It was not only about the school; it was also about finding a connection with the Cavaliers and head coach Mike London.

"Anthony Harris was my host, that's my boy." he said. " (London) He's cool. He changed my view on Uva, (he is )a very passionate guy."

So what type of role does Jackson envision in defensive coordinator Jon Tenuta's defensive system.

"I play linebacker positions, even hybrid outside linebacker, defensive end, so it didn't matter to me. I mean I like the outside linebacker role in their system, because it's much easier."

With his decision coming soon, Jackson knows what he is looking for.

"Just a school and environment I feel comfortable in. Great sports program and academic excellence."
