Robert Washington making visits

Robert Washington

2016 SouthLake Christian Academy (Huntersville, NC) running back Robert Washington already has an SEC offer to his credit, and the freshman sensation has been making numerous trips to college campuses with his father. Where has Washington recently visited, which SEC school is next on the list, and which two BCS programs are on the itinerary for next year?

Robert Washington visited North Carolina State, Duke (for the second time this fall) and Clemson this month.

"Robert likes North Carolina State especially because Tremayne Stephens went there," his father, Robert Washington Sr., said. "Tremayne is one of Robert's trainers.

"We were at N.C. State for the Florida State game, which was a pretty big game. It was a good visit. We visited Duke again for (North) Carolina versus Duke. Robert likes Duke, and he likes Carolina."

What's next for father and son?

"We're going to Mississippi State on November 17th," the elder Washington said. "Robert called Coach (Greg) Knox at Mississippi State, and he was very impressed to learn that LaDainian Tomlinson played under Coach Knox.

"Robert likes the ACC schools, but he also really likes the SEC. We plan to visit Florida next year, and we really want to get down to Louisiana and visit LSU."

The frosh has put up robust numbers over the past three weeks.

"Those games have been real big for him," dad said. "He's playing with a lot more confidence now that he's 100% healthy and not dinged up. I tell him to be patient and to be confident, and at the same time be humble - not arrogant.

"The team has only lost one game, to Christ School (Arden, NC), which is ranked No. 1 in a larger classification."

Washington has cracked the 150-yard rushing mark three consecutive weeks. He had 17 carries for 155 yards and two TDs in SouthLake Christian's 33-0 win over First Assembly Christian.

"First Assembly (Concord, NC) had two 6-foot-6 defensive ends," dad said.

Washington (Ole Miss offer) has 840 yards rushing on 76 carries with 10 TDs for 10-1 SouthLake, a relatively new program and budding powerhouse. Recommended Stories
